Have you ever thought that doing ONE thing could make you famous literally overnight? For many of us, we will never be famous or have the spotlight on us in any significant way, beyond our local newspaper, but have you ever given serious thought to the idea that doing ONE thing could make you incredibly famous? Let’s look at a few examples;

Ashley Dupre has an affair with Governor Spitzer and instantly, she’s famous.

Monica Lewinsky has an affair with President Bill Clinton and instantly, she’s famous.

William Hung sings on American Idol and instantly, he’s famous.

These are just a few examples of how the spotlight has followed people that did only one thing. Whether the attention gained was negative or positive, it just goes to show that the things that we do can have a lasting impact on the rest of our lives.

So what does this have to do with blogging?

Think about how much importance is put on social networking and bookmarking websites, especially if you’re a blogger. You have an audience of millions ready to read your content if only they knew it existed. Social media websites give you the opportunity to become an overnight blogging success. All you need to do is write something that resonates with the masses and you could have overnight success.

Don’t Wait to Improve Your Blog

I’ve read stories of people who wrote a post that got Stumbled and instantly they were seeing thousands of hits. Just think; Your content being seen by thousands of people! It’s exciting to think of the possibilities, but you need to be ready for it. You could be thinking “My blog doesn’t have a lot of traffic; When it does, then I’ll do…whatever to it.” If that’s your attitude, it might be too late. What happens if your blog sucks (and many might say that mine does) and you find yourself with tons of traffic somewhat unexpectedly? Does your blog make people want to come back, or will they quickly read the article, never to return again? That’s why both content and style are so important. Your blog needs to be easy to read. Is your layout confusing to the reader? Beyond that, if they read your one famous post, are the other posts worth sticking around and reading?

If you knew that tomorrow one of your posts was going to be a huge success and viewed by thousands, or more, what would you do to your blog today in preparation?

Be ready for overnight success. Your next post just might light the blogosphere on fire!

    For the last question: I’d probably redo my theme just a little bit. (I’d like to combine my sidebars and maybe add some space under my header to make it a little more professional)

    As soon as I have a day where I can sit down and spend a few hours crunching code to output my new theme, I’m going to do it!
